Exhibition CU at the YEAST photography festival in Matino, Italy
September 19, 2024
Salve, ragazzi e ragazze!
I am in Martino, in the south of Italy, at the YEAST Photography Festival. And I have the great pleasure to show you my work in one of the 15 exhibitions of the festival. Six of them are here in the Palazzo Marco Island. There two. Four at the Piazza San Giorgio.
It’s an honor for me to be an exhibition neighbor of so wonderful colleagues like Pablo Piovano, Carolina Arantes, Kadir van Lohuizen Axel Javier Sulzbacher.
My exhibition is called CŪ, the Old English word for cow. My exhibition has a little warning for sensitive content, because I show different elements of the cow more precisely from the inside of the cow, not necessarily something for the faint hearted. So if you count yourself among them, close your eyes.
It all started a while ago with the heart. Then with a little push and the support of “fairfleisch”, for which I’m very grateful. There more pictures were taken.
A cow is more than the sum of its usable parts. From a nutritional perspective, humans believe that the individual elements constitute the animal. In Western culture in particular, we either see the animal as a whole and want to cuddle it, or reduced to a few parts, such as clean steaks or minced meat.
These images confront the viewer with a different perspective, and perhaps urge them to enter into a kind of visual dialog with this subject, I would like to thank the curator Edda Fahrenhorst, NewLab Photo and ChromaLuxe for making this presentation possible, Leica Camera and of course the whole YEAST festival team. You are gorgeou
So come along, it’s worth it.
